Let’s try something a little more sophisticated today. Let’s take a subject that has zero photo references. Let’s make a cyberpunk mammoth. There are no photos of woolly mammoths because there are no mammoths to take photos of.

Let’s start with our first prompt. I’m going to keep it simple because I’m not sure where this is going to go. Often times MidJourney gives you options you haven’t thought possible.

Prompt: Cyberpunk Mammoth

This has some good results. I think V2 looks interesting. It might be better to try to make the mammoth hairier. Let’s add a few words and see what MidJourney comes up with.

From this image, you can see the challenge in this prompt. Since there are no photos of a mammoth, Midjourney doesn’t have any references. You can clearly see it’s using an elephant as a reference. Let’s try and fix that in the next prompt.

As you can see, this solved the hair problem. What I’m really going for is something that’s even more hyperrealistic. Let’s pump this to the max by adding in 32k and –quality 5. This will take longer but give us a better result.

This is starting to get somewhere. It should have more technology on the mammoth. We should play around with the lighting and the style. Let’s add more detail and Luminism to the prompt.

Let’s add the words Matrix and Colorful to see what happens to the image.

Let’s add a detailed background.

This looks better. Whenever you need to spice up a scene, you can do two things: either remove the background entirely or make a very detailed background. Either way, it will enhance the subject. At this point, I think the second option is the best. We could go on all day making adjustments. Let’s push V2, to make variations. Often times when you’re making any project, whether that be an image, a game, or an app, time will be limited. Your goal as a creator is to get the best product with the time you’re given.

I think version 1 looks the best. Let’s render this out. When you’re making images in Midjourney, you might push the variation button 4 or 5 times. This isn’t uncommon. It all depends on what you’re looking for.

I think the result looks great. It really does look like we brought a mammoth back from extinction and place it in a Blade Runner setting.
