How to make people in the 1400s look like they’re shocked that KFC is on the table in MidJourney

One of the best parts of MidJourney is the time-setting parameters. You can generate an image and put it at different times.

So why not have people in the 1400s be shocked that there’s s huge bucket of KFC on the table? Sounds like fun. Let’s start with our first prompt.

Prompt: Draw people shocked that there’s a huge bucket of Kentucky fried chicken on the table, time period 1400s

Not bad, but there’s a long way to go. First, let’s make this 1 16:9 aspect ratio. To do this we need to add the –ar 16:9. Second, we need to fix the bucket in the center.

Prompt: Draw people shocked that there’s a huge bucket of Kentucky fried chicken on the table, draw a huge bucket of fried chicken on the table, time period 1400s, –ar 16:9

Take a look at this picture. It’s pretty hilarious. I like the bucket in version 4. Let’s add the –quality 5 to it so MidJourney gives us the best result.

Prompt: Draw people shocked that there’s a huge bucket of Kentucky fried chicken on the table, draw a huge bucket of fried chicken on the table, The bucket is made of wood, the table has lots of food on it, the people are excited to eat it all, time period 1400s, –ar 16:9 –quality 5

Not bad. Again, V4 looks the best. Let’s add in the 32k to the prompt as well as the baroque painter Annibale Carracci, this will make it look somewhat like a work of the time. Art majors will tell me it’s not quite accurate.

Version 4 is so funny. Let’s redo this one and see what comes up.

Version 4 is clearly something that I want to keep. Let’s make 4 variations.

variations

These all look great. My favorite is V4 so let’s upscale that one.

This version is okay. One of the guys has glasses. Let’s try a different version.

This version is much better. You can see that there are still some people with glasses. Some of the faces look a little weird. They must really be ecstatic about chicken.

I think this is a hilarious exercise in the decade parameter. There are lots of images and paintings that can be used to make this feature better. I’m looking forward to how MidJourney evolves.
